About the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), offers funding to eligible individuals with disabilities so they are able to spend more time with their loved ones, be more independent, have access to volunteering opportunities in their community, and gain access to new life skills. The primary purpose of the NDIS is to improve the overall quality of life for people with disabilities. Furthermore, the NDIS connects people with disabilities to services within their local community. This includes providing information offered by each Australian state and territory, connecting one to allied health services, community groups, sporting clubs and sports facilities, libraries and schools, and support groups. The NDIS provides for and supports over 500,000 thousand Australians with disability so they may receive the services, assistance and care needed.
